Rip City is excited to announce the return of Louis Ilton for the 2022, NBL1 North season. Louis has been a foundational piece for the club since joining in 2016 and is the most tenured player in Rip City history, on pace to eclipse 100 games played this season.

Louis provides a burst of energy, effort and defensive presence that has made him a key piece for Coach Arousi over the years. With his versatility on the defensive end and ability to put pressure on opposing defenses with his aggressive play.

“We got so close last year and would have had an opportunity to play a home final but lost in the semi to Mackay. That has really driven me to get better this off-season and to finally reward this club and our group with an NBL1 North championship.”

Ilton said reflecting on last year. “Playing alongside Eric, Josh and Izzy is something that I will always cherish. These guys are great leaders and are super competitive in their own rights. Having them on the court makes my job a lot easier as I know that I can always rely on them to do their job, which we hold each other accountable to.”

“It is a new look team compared to who we had last year but we are still bringing back that core and our core of young guys. Having Joe, Verle and Khobie join us has been an awesome addition already with more to come.” Ilton said.

Louis has been a key piece from the beginning of Rip City’s inception into the QBL and NBL1 competitions, helping build a winning culture. We look forward to having Louis on court in 2022!

USC’s NBL1 season starts in April with the first six rounds on the road due to Suncorp Super Netball but Rip City’s run home will be mostly at home. Rip City are looking forward to the first home game on the 11th June vs Southern District Spartans. The finals will be played in August-September after a 15-round regular season.
