The USC Rip City Men split their Round 6 road trip to the North this past weekend. On Friday night, the men trounced Rockhampton, winning by 27 points. Kouat Noi continued his dominating form, scoring 31 points and grabbing a club record 20 rebounds in an incredible display on the evening. Wani Swaka Lo Buluk made his Rip City debut, scoring 15 points but more importantly, silenced Rockhampton’s Kendall Stephens in the second half, who scored

22 first half points and only 2 second half points thanks to Swaka’s efforts. Eric McAlister finished with 14 points on the night and Verle Williams contributed 16 of his own.

The men would fall short on Saturday to second place Mackay by 15 points on the second night of a back to back. Shorthanded without the services of Louis Ilton for the weekend and an early first quarter injury to McAlister, the Meteor’s used their size and physicality to dominate the glass early and often, having 16 first half offensive rebounds. Despite the efforts of Mackay, the men were able to keep the game tied before it slipped away in the second half. Once again, Kouat Noi dominated with 33 points and 13 rebounds for the men while Isaih Tueta scored 15 points of his own.

The men will look to bounce back against a dangerous Spartans men’s team this Saturday.

The 6th Round addition of import Jalen Canty has proved to be a difference maker for the Spartans. Canty comes into the weekend averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds after his first set of games on the weekend. Chris Cedar remains dangerous as always, averaging 16 points himself and youngsters Marial Mandol Pan Mading and Kobe McDowell-White are potent

offensive pieces averaging 10 points per game each.

Followed by a slew of veterans, the Spartans men’s team pose a dangerous threat this

weekend as they continue to search for their first win. The men will need to be focused and locked in defensively to keep the offensive punch of the Spartans under control this weekend and look to continue their dominating form as they continue to own the paint.

Come on down the USC Sports Stadium this Saturday night at 7:30 as the USC Rip City men

take on the Southern Districts Spartans!
