Rip City in partnership with Sheri Skele (@bigi_nagala) are proud to announce the launch of the basketball club’s first Indigenous jersey.
The NBL1 North club will wear the jersey that honours the traditional custodians of country in the league’s Indigenous Round on DATE??? The jersey, designed by local artist Sheri Skele, tells the story of the Gubbi Gubbi people, the Traditional Custodians of the land located in South East Queensland, within the Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie region.
The traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi people stretched from the northern banks of the North Pine River in the south; to Burrum River in the north near Maryborough and to the Conondale Ranges in the west. This artwork is a representation of Gubbi Gubbi country.
Filled with lakes, rivers, creeks, coastal beaches, abundant bush tucker, diverse animal life, grassy plains, rich soils, rainforest, and mountain ranges
Proud Wakka Wakka and Gangulu man and new Rip City recruit, Verle Williams, is looking forward to wearing the jersey and representing his people. The Rip City replica jersey is available for pre order purchase until the 13th of May and can be ordered by clicking here
