Rip City Men Face Tough Task

The Rip City men felt a wave of emotions this week, after going down to rival Phoenix.

The men struggled to score the ball for the majority of the game before finally finding some rhythm down the stretch.

Unfortunately, the late surge was not enough to get them over the line as they fell

short. Kouat Noi led the way with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

The men would bounce back in a big way, though, in a Wednesday night game down on the Gold Coast.

In a makeup game from Round Three where the court was unplayable due to weather conditions, the men seized the opportunity to take one back and into the win column.

Playing shorthanded once again against the top of the ladder, the men got off to a quick start and never trailed in the game as they knocked of the Rollers 96-86. Kouat Noi was once again huge for Rip, scoring 34 points and adding 9 rebounds.

Josh Tueta had a great game as well, scoring 24 points and grabbing 8 rebounds that led to him being a major factor in the win.

Izzy Tueta also added 18 points and 11 assists on the evening while Riley Cordwell had great

contributions off the bench in extended minutes as he pulled in 8 rebounds and was very solid

defensively.

The men don’t have long to enjoy the win as they have a quick turn around against Cairns this Saturday. After a slow start, the Marlins come in having found rhythm and a formula for winning.

Boasting plenty of NBL talent on the roster, the Marlins will pack a major offensive

punch as they are one of the top offensive teams in the league.

Guard Benjamin Ayre leads the scoring for Cairns with 23 points a game, while forward Lat Mayen comes in averaging just under 20 points a game. Longtime stalwart Deba George comes in averaging 17 points a game while Brisbane Bullet Kody Stattmann averages 14 per game.

Cairns Taipan Mirko Djeric rounds out the scoring with 10 points per game and leads the team with just under 5 assists per game.

The men will need to be locked in defensively with the plethora of weapons Cairns has.

Each individual can score in bunches and go for a big night so the men will need to be switched on and laser focused like they were against the Rollers on Wednesday night. Look for the men to use their strength inside and attacking the basket as they put pressure on the rim and Cairns defence.
