The Rip City men started off the 2022 NBL1 North season with a bang on Saturday against the Southern Districts Spartans with a 105-71 win.

In a game where all twelve Rip City players saw action, it was the explosive performances of newcomers Kouat Noi and Verle Williams that stoodout.

Noi finished with 37 points and 13 rebounds in a dominating display that earned him NBL1 player of the week honours.

Williams put on a show of his own with 22 points and 6 rebounds and more than a few highlight plays along the way.

Khobie De Haan added 14 points in his NBL1 debut, bringing the energy and excitement he showed in the preseason.

Forward Eric McAlister also contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists on the night.

Rip City will take on Northside Wizards this weekend who look to be dangerous this season despite dropping their first round matchup to Brisbane Capitals in a one point loss.

Led by Australian Boomer Mitch McCarron at the point guard position and NBL Most Improved Player Keanu Pinder, the Wizards will also look to add the services of new members this weekend as they continue to bolster their side to full strength.

Rip City understands the tall task at hand, as Wizards present a very different set of challenges than Spartans did last round.

The Wizards will have an elite point guard in McCarron and the strength of their team lies inside, as they possess great size, experience and talent.

Last week the men dominated the paint, out rebounding the Spartans by 20 and outscoring them by 12 in paint points.

The Wizards will try to use their interior presence to stifle Rip inside.

Rip will look to continue to push the ball and play aggressively as they did in Round 1 which led to the win. Support our Rip City men this Saturday, May 7 at 5:00pm. You can catch the game on the NBL1 website or head down to Northside at the South Pines Complex to cheer them on!
