The USC Rip City men added two more wins to their resume as they continue to add to a strong season.

The men took down the struggling Southwest Pirates in a close game in which the Pirates led for most of the contest.

Kouat Noi continued to do Kouat Noi things, scoring 36 points and grabbing 13 rebounds on the night. Isaih Tueta and Verle Williams added 16 nd 15 points each.

Junior Kai Bloom was excellent on the evening as well, scoring 12 points in 15 minutes to help secure the win.

On Sunday the men faced off against the Darwin Salties in a matchup of top 4 teams. Without the services of Isaih Tueta, the men found ways to fill the void with Kouat Noi and Verle Williams both scoring 24 points each while Eric McAlister scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Once again, Kai Bloom provided phenomenal minutes, scoring another 12 minutes and playing 31 minutes for Rip. Louis Ilton provided an excellent defensive effort, holding the Salties leading scorers to inefficient nights.

The men will once again be tested this weekend in another double header. Ipswich comes in to Saturday night’s game as one of the most dangerous teams in the league, winners of 5 of the last 7 and the recent addition of Matt Hodgson.

Led by Illawarra Hawk guard Isaac White’s 21 points per game, import forward Henry Pwono’s 21 points per game and Cairns Taipan Majok Deng’s 18 points per game, the Force are just that, a force. A balanced attack that has led to a late season surge that has seen them climb the ladder on their way to a finals spot.

This will shape up to be a very physical game, so the men will need to match the physicality without fouling. On Sunday the men will take on the Townsville Heat led by Boomer Sam Froling’s 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Richard Peachey comes in as their leading scorer with 21 points per game and Ethan Betts also coming into the game averaging 21 points.

The Heat have good size and are perennially a strong side so the men will need to be ready to defend on Sunday afternoon and continue their push towards the top of the ladder late in the season.

Come down to USC Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 3:00 to get behind your USC Rip City Men!
