The Rip City Men suffered their first defeat of the 2022 season on the road against Northside Wizards in a 102-94 result. Northside, led by Anthony Drmic’s 33 point performance, outlasted Rip’s valiant comeback efforts.

After a slow first quarter, trailing 35-19, Rip City stormed back with a strong showing in the second quarter to come within two points at halftime. Unfortunately, another slow quarter in the third pushed the Wizards lead to double digits. A late game storm was not enough for the men as they eventually fell to the Wizards by 8 points.

Kouat Noi, Izzy Tueta and Verle Williams led the way for the men with 24, 24 and 23 points

The men will look to get back on track this weekend against Gold Coast Rollers down on the

Gold Coast. The focus in this one will be on the defensive end for the men, after giving up 102

points to Wizards, a rare occurrence for the program under Coach Arousi. Gold Coast boast a

formidable offensive punch, with Brisbane Bullets Jason Cadee, Lamar Patterson and former

Rip City player Tanner Krebs.

The men will look forward to bouncing back this weekend and look to make a statement on the

defensive end in particular. The identity of the men’s program has always started with the

defensive end under Coach Arousi and we look forward to seeing the boys bounce back. The

good news— the men have had no trouble scoring to begin this season, averaging just under

100 points per game in their first two contests.

Make sure you support the men as they take on the Gold Coast Rollers this Saturday at 8pm at

Carrara Stadium or on the NBL1 livestream!

Rip City are looking forward to the first home game on the 11th June vs Southern District Spartans.

The finals will be played in August-September after a 15-round regular season.
