The Rip City women came away with a close win against the North Gold Coast Seahawks this past Saturday.
Ashley Arlen led the scoring with 36 points while Maddy Rocci finished with 17 points on the night.
Liisa Ups added 12 points while Kat Ups finished with 11 points and some crucial free throws down the stretch to seal the win for Rip.
Yasmin Miller made her return to
the club in her first action of the season and notching a basket immediately after stepping onto the floor.
The women now hold the eighth spot on the ladder and are in to the quarter finals if they can finish the season strong.
This weekend will be crucial for the women as they head into the first of three straight double headers to finish out the season.
Saturday night at Hibiscus Stadium, the women will face off against the Southwest Metro Pirates. The SWM women come in struggling this year as they are in search of their first win of the season.
The pirates have struggled to score the ball this year, averaging just 69 points per
game. Led by Alissa Alston and Bride Kennedy-Hopoate’s 14 points per game and Steph
Bairstow and Catherine MacGregor’s 13 points per game, the women will look to hold the
Pirates to a low number and secure another crucial win that will see them hold on to finals
Sunday afternoon the women are back at USC Stadium against league newcomer Darwin.
The women Salties also come into this game struggling with 3 wins on the season.
However the Salties boast some talent that doesn’t reflect their record in their inaugural season.
Led by the interior punch of Erin Bollman (16 points and 10 rebounds per game) and WNBL player Chelsea Brook (16 points and 9 rebounds per game) the Salties have enough fire power to pose a threat to the Rip women.
Look for the women to dig in and stop the punch of the Salties on Sunday afternoon.
Both games can be watched on the live stream on the NBL1 website or at Hibiscus Stadium on
Saturday night or USC Stadium Sunday afternoon.
