The USC Rip City Women continued their win streak after beating the winless Southwest Metro Pirates 74-55 at Hibiscus Stadium on Saturday night.

The women’s defence was on full display holding the struggling Pirates to just 55 points. Carlie Smith led the way in dominating fashion in her return to the court, scoring 26 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.

Liisa and Katherine Ups added 11 and 12 points respectively as the women secured another win on the season.

The women backed up their performance with another win on Sunday afternoon over the Darwin Salties 83-74. Carlie Smith led the way again, pouring in 22 points on the afternoon alongside Ashley Arlen’s 18.

Camryn Hughes added 13 points on the win.

The women will look to continue their win streak with another double header this weekend at USC Stadium. On Saturday the women will take on the Ipswich Force.

Ipswich is led by latecomer Amanda Cahill who comes in averaging 22 points per game and Tia Hay’s 18 points per game.

Brianna Rollerson comes in averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds as well. The women will need to stay locked in and ready to stop the big three for Ipswich.

The women will be tested on Sunday against the Townsville Flames who have been dominant all season. Led by Opal Alanna Smith’s 26 points per game, Courtney Woods’ 24 points per game and Stephanie Reid’s 20 points per game, the Flames are a potent offensive attack that will need to be smothered for the Rip women to come away with a win in this one.

Come out to USC Stadium on Saturday night at 5:30 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00 and get behind your USC Rip City women!
