The USC Rip City women will look to continue their winning ways after coming off a strong win over rival Phoenix.

The women were strong on the defensive end of the floor, only allowing a season low 47 points from the Phoenix. Maddi Rocci led the way with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in a well rounded effort. Carlie Smith added 15 points and 10 rebounds, as well.

This week, the test for the women will be much greater, as they face off against the Cairns Dolphins.

Unlike Phoenix, Cairns comes in with a strong offensive punch led by Opals forward

Cayla George who comes in averaging 22 points and an impressive 16 rebounds per game while adding 6 assists per game. Forward Penina Davidson comes in averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds as well, forming one of the best front court’s that Rip will see this year.

Alessandra Burke help bolster the scoring with just under 14 points per game and Teyahna Bond comes in averaging 11 points per game as well.

The women will certainly need to replicate their efforts from the last weekend and come ready to play defensively to secure the win. Rebounding will also be an important factor in this one as the women will need to match the physicality and aggression of Cairns on the glass to limit their opportunities.
