The Rip City women fell 91-79 to Northside Wizards in round 2, suffering their second defeat of the year. Northside, led by Australian Opal Shyla Heal, led the way with 33 points in the game as Northside packed a strong offensive punch.
American import Ashley Arlen, led the way with a Rip City season high of 37 points and 12 rebounds. Maddi Rocci contributed with 21 points and 11 assists.
For the second week, Rip have have attempted to stop high powered offences to no avail. The women will look to get their first win of the season and momentum moving forward against a very tough Gold Coast Rollers squad. Ashley Arlen will look to continue her dominance inside, giving Rip City a versatile threat around the basket as well as from the outside.
Led by guard Lauren Mansfield, coming off a 25 point 8 assist performance in Round 2, the
Rollers boast a strong punch from their big three, including 19 points from Sarah Ambrose and
18 points from Angela Lou Beadle.The women will look to choke the scoring punch of those
three as they look to secure their first win of the 2022 season.
Junior Brook Graves has shown good form early on this season, despite limited box score
impact. Look to see continued contribution from the junior as the season progresses and her
contributions continue to increase.
